WOE Chess Club
Making Moves – Mastering Life!
Ages 8 – 14 (All Skill Levels)
Chess, which is required in the curriculum in over 30 countries, is an exercise of infinite possibilities for the mind, one which develops mental abilities used throughout life: concentration, critical thinking, analysis, planning and execution.
We will be exploring Chess tools such as tactics, thinking ahead, correct positioning, and controlling the board while encountering many Chess positions. Students will learn Chess vocabulary and notation and work together to solve chess puzzles and analyze historical games. Students will gain the ability to apply the thinking exercises they do during chess to various real world experiences.
Chess is simple to learn, complex to master and very fun to play! Students will enjoy the personal attention while improving their self-esteem and love for the game of chess.
